L&#8217;exposici\u00f3 a la llum solar, les fluctuacions de temperatura o la humitat constitueixen el que es coneix com a \u201cenvelliment\u201d: un proc\u00e9s qu\u00edmic irreversible que provoca la decoloraci\u00f3 i la p\u00e8rdua de les propietats mec\u00e0niques dels pol\u00edmers. Per tant, evitar aquests efectes als cables exposats a la intemp\u00e8rie \u00e9s essencial per prolongar la seva vida \u00fatil.<\/p>\n<p>El mercat de cables ofereix una \u00e0mplia gamma de dissenys i aplicacions per a \u00fas a exteriors. Ho veiem en cables de mitjana tensi\u00f3, cables fotovoltaics per a panells solars, cables d&#8217;alimentaci\u00f3 per a edificis, els cada cop m\u00e9s populars cables de fibra \u00f2ptica a\u00e8ria o els necessaris per a carregadors de cotxes el\u00e8ctrics. Diversos sectors de gran rellev\u00e0ncia requereixen cables resistents a la fotodegradaci\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>Es tracta d&#8217;un proc\u00e9s fotoqu\u00edmic produ\u00eft per la llum solar que \u00e9s acumulatiu, cosa que vol dir que empitjora amb el temps i \u00e9s irreversible. La degradaci\u00f3 del pol\u00edmer per la radiaci\u00f3 ultraviolada (UV) influeix en les propietats f\u00edsiques i, per tant, en la vida \u00fatil.<\/p>\n<p>Aix\u00ed, la radiaci\u00f3 UV provoca una degradaci\u00f3 fotooxidativa que provoca el trencament de les cadenes polim\u00e8riques, produint radicals lliures que inicien una reacci\u00f3 en cadena que en deteriora les propietats mec\u00e0niques. Com a conseq\u00fc\u00e8ncia, es produeix una degradaci\u00f3 de l&#8217;aspecte visual, de la brillantor i de la superf\u00edcie, aix\u00ed com una p\u00e8rdua de les propietats mec\u00e0niques del cable, cosa que en limita la vida \u00fatil.<\/p>\n<p>Cal recordar que quan un pl\u00e0stic s&#8217;exposa a les condicions solars i clim\u00e0tiques, es produeixen dos fen\u00f2mens independents: la degradaci\u00f3 polim\u00e8rica i la fotodegradaci\u00f3 dels grups crom\u00f2fors presents als pigments, responsables del color final del cable.<\/p>\n<h2>Mitigar la fotodegradaci\u00f3 polim\u00e8rica<\/h2>\n<p>Hi ha tres maneres de mitigar la fotodegradaci\u00f3 polim\u00e8rica.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Una \u00e9s l&#8217;\u00fas d&#8217;additius anomenats filtres UV, que tenen la capacitat d&#8217;absorbir la llum ultraviolada que causa la degradaci\u00f3. D&#8217;aquesta manera, quan la llum solar entra en contacte amb aquests additius, reaccionen i impedeixen que la llum arribi al pol\u00edmer, com si fos un para-sol.<\/li>\n<li>Tamb\u00e9 \u00e9s possible mitigar-ho mitjan\u00e7ant HALS (estabilitzadors de llum d&#8217;amines impedides), una fam\u00edlia d&#8217;additius que reaccionen amb els radicals lliures, bloquejant-los i prevenint el trencament de la cadena polim\u00e8rica. Quan la llum ultraviolada incideix i es genera el radical lliure, els HALS actuen aturant el proc\u00e9s de degradaci\u00f3 del pol\u00edmer.<\/li>\n<li>D&#8217;altra banda, mitjan\u00e7ant el pigment negre (\u00e9s a dir, negre de fum), s&#8217;obt\u00e9 una alta capacitat d&#8217;absorci\u00f3 de la radiaci\u00f3 UV de la llum, ja que atrapa aquesta energia, impedint que reaccioni amb el pol\u00edmer. Els graus m\u00e9s efectius s\u00f3n aquells amb la mida de part\u00edcula m\u00e9s petita, ja que presenten una major superf\u00edcie per atrapar la radiaci\u00f3 solar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I qu\u00e8 hi ha del color? Cap additiu protegeix el color del cable com ho fa el pol\u00edmer. La soluci\u00f3 en aquest cas \u00e9s formular el color amb pigments preparats per suportar condicions exteriors. En altres paraules, cal des del principi triar el pigment o la combinaci\u00f3 de pigments adequats que siguin resistents a la llum. L&#8217;estudi exhaustiu del comportament dels pigments en els diferents tipus de pol\u00edmers utilitzats a la <a href=\"https:\/\/deltatecnic.com\/ca\/deltacolor-pvc\/cables\/\">ind\u00fastria del cable<\/a> (PVC, <a href=\"https:\/\/deltatecnic.com\/ca\/resistencia-sense-renunciar-a-les-propietats-mecaniques\/\">HFFR<\/a>, TPU, XLPE, EPDM, etc.) en condicions exteriors \u00e9s clau per garantir l&#8217;estabilitat del color del cable durant la seva vida \u00fatil a l&#8217;exterior.<\/p>\n<h2>Resist\u00e8ncia a la intemp\u00e8rie ia la llum<\/h2>\n<p>El comportament dels pigments en exteriors es pot mesurar mitjan\u00e7ant una prova que accelera l\u201festat d\u201fexposici\u00f3 dels pl\u00e0stics sota diferents condicions de llum solar. En altres paraules, hi ha m\u00e8todes efica\u00e7os per determinar el comportament esperat dels cables per a exteriors, cosa que facilita la selecci\u00f3 de pigments i, per tant, la predicci\u00f3 de la vida \u00fatil del pl\u00e0stic.<\/p>\n<p>D&#8217;aquesta manera, es facilita la presa de decisions i es contribueix a instal\u00b7lar cables s\u00f2lids capa\u00e7os de resistir la intemp\u00e8rie i les condicions que provoquen resist\u00e8ncia a la llum. Aix\u00ed, el concepte hist\u00f2ric de resist\u00e8ncia a la llum, que t\u00e9 en compte la incid\u00e8ncia de la llum, es combina amb el de resist\u00e8ncia a la intemp\u00e8rie, que, a m\u00e9s de la llum, considera factors com la temperatura i la humitat.<\/p>\n<p>De fet, els pigments amb bona resist\u00e8ncia a la llum poden no funcionar correctament a diferents rangs de temperatura, sota la radiaci\u00f3 solar, i tamb\u00e9 es veuen afectats pel pol\u00edmer utilitzat en la definici\u00f3 del cable. Tots dos conceptes es combinen per resoldre el problema a qu\u00e8 s&#8217;enfronten els dissenyadors de cables per a exteriors, per\u00f2 afortunadament hi ha una soluci\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p>Un bon coneixement del comportament dels pigments en els diferents tipus de pol\u00edmers utilitzats en la ind\u00fastria del cable, com XLPE, PVC, HFFR, TPU, TPE-E i EPDM, \u00e9s essencial per poder proposar formulacions de pigments que obtinguin el color requerit amb una excel\u00b7lent estabilitat en condicions exteriors, no nom\u00e9s a causa de l&#8217;acci\u00f3 agressiva de la llum, sin\u00f3 tamb\u00e9 a tots.<\/p>\n<p>Els colors m\u00e9s cr\u00edtics que podem trobar als cables d&#8217;exterior s\u00f3n aquells que cal dissenyar amb pigments vermells i grocs, ja que s\u00f3n els m\u00e9s sensibles a la llum i als efectes clim\u00e0tics. Per aix\u00f2, \u00e9s fonamental comptar amb proves que ens ajudin a predir el comportament d&#8217;aquests pigments a les diferents bases polim\u00e8riques i amb les concentracions necess\u00e0ries. Aquestes proves s&#8217;han de fer per a aquests pigments cr\u00edtics utilitzant Suntest (un equip de laboratori que, en condicions estandarditzades, permet fer aquestes prediccions).<\/p>\n<p>Si aquestes proves no es realitzen amb els pigments cr\u00edtics, \u00e9s possible que es produeixi una degradaci\u00f3 dels grups crom\u00f2fors dels pigments esmentats, donant com a resultat una decoloraci\u00f3 dels cables en temps molt m\u00e9s curts que els desitjats, amb els conseg\u00fcents problemes relacionats amb la reparaci\u00f3 i control de circuits el\u00e8ctrics i cables de dades
